Candidate Paperwork for City/School Election 2021- Wapello Republican

Louisa- Louisa County Auditor Sandi Sturgell has announced that candidate filing begins on Monday, August 23rd.  This filing is for the Combined City/School Elections that are in the county.

Any candidate wishing to run for Mayor, City Council Member, and School Board Member will need to file an affidavit of candidacy and nomination petition beginning on Monday, August 23rd.  The filing period ends on Thursday, September 16th at 5 p.m. Candidates can pick up the required forms from the School Board Secretaries of the school districts that they are running in. City candidates can get their paperwork at the City Clerk’s office. All candidates can also get their paperwork at the Louisa County Auditor’s office at 117 S. Main St. Wapello, IA 52653 or online at elections.louisacountyia.gov/candidates/

School Board Candidates need to file their forms with the School Board Secretaries by 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 16th.  Candidates wishing to run for the three open board member positions at Wapello School District can turn in forms at 406 Mechanic St. Wapello, IA 52653. 

City candidates will need to return their forms to the Auditor’s office at 117 S. Main St. Wapello, IA, or mailed to the office at P.O. Box 186 Wapello, IA 52653.

The City of Oakville will have three council member positions on the ballot.  The City of Wapello will have three council members, one from each ward, one at-large council member, and one mayor position on the ballot.

All polling locations have changed for the City and School Elections.  All voters will need to vote at their General Election polling locations for the Combined City/School Election.  All voters in Oakville and Wapello will vote at the Briggs Civic Center in Wapello. Voters from Eliot Township, Jefferson Township, and Wapello Township will also vote at the Briggs Civic Center in Wapello.
