Notice of Local Option Sales and Services Tax Election

On November 2nd, 2021, a City/School Election will be held in Louisa County, and on the ballot will be the question of change in use of a local sales and services tax.  The proposal to be voted upon at that election will include the following information:

Type of tax: Local Option Sales and Services Tax

Rate of tax: One Percent (1%)

The following information will appear on the ballot for the jurisdiction listed:

In the City of Wapello revenue is to be used: 0% for property tax relief.  The specific purposes for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended are: 100% for constructing, furnishing, and equipping municipal fire protection facilities and/or for any other lawful purposes of the City as determined from time to time by the City Council. Date of imposition: February 1st, 2022

In the City of Columbus Junction revenue is to be used: 0% for property tax relief. The specific purposes for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended are: 100% for community development and/or any other lawful use as determined by Mayor and City Council. Date of Imposition: February 1st, 2022.

In the City of Grandview revenue is to be used: 0% for property tax relief. The specific purposes for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended are: 100% for improving and equipping the municipal sanitary sewer system and any other lawful purpose of the City as determined from time-to-time by the City Council. Date of imposition: July 1, 2022.

In the unincorporated areas of Louisa County revenue is to be used: 0% for property tax relief.  The specific purposes for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended are: 100% to fund ambulances and emergency response equipment; improvement, maintenance and repair of County buildings and any other lawful purpose of the County as determined from time to time by the Board of Supervisors. Date of imposition: July 1, 2022.
